Dog Days Dahlias

We love dogs. We have four of them and must accept that our floors will never be clean again. We’re also filthy most of the time ourselves, so it’s not entirely their fault, but it’s fun to blame them. On to the dog days!

Dog days dahlias are dahlias with a cause. We donate 100% of the proceeds to Freckles and Tomcat rescue in Hardin, Montana. These folks are entirely volunteer-based, and every cent donated goes towards the care of dogs, and occasionally cats, in great need. Two of our four dogs, Crix and Mina (we call them our yellar dogs), are from this rescue and I can’t think of more deserving folks, or more deserving dogs for that matter. Please check out their Facebook page for what this group is all about. https://www.facebook.com/share/1BPzrDby4k/

Mina, Meiner Schnitzel, Skeezy Weezy, Weasling, the names go on. An absolute sweetheart of a dog from the Fort Belknap reservation. Vetted, and transported to Washington by a group of people who really care. She’s the annoying little sister in our crew, and terrorizes the boys with impunity.

Señor Crix is our Veteran boy. He’s from the southern most tip of Texas, and in the summer, you can really tell. He will bake himself while the others hide in the shade. Obedient, loyal, and patient. Transported from Texas to Montana, from Montana to Washington, he’s basically perfect.
